Trestleboard ASHLER LODGE December 2012

Greetings from the East,

Thank you again for the trust you have placed in me by electing me Worshipful Master of Ashler Lodge. This will be a busy and hopefully a fun year. I have quite a bit planned for this year, and the only reason I think I can pull all of this off is because of the support I have received from the Past Masters of Ashler Lodge, the wonderful officers I have working with me, and of course the support of the Lodge.

Brothers Kaltenbach and Southerland have agreed to give me their space in this month’s Trestleboard so that I can address two amendments to our bylaws and my proposed schedule for 2013.

The first amendment is an edict from Grand Lodge this will change the format of our bylaws but not the content.

The second amendment started as a good idea from our Most Worshipful Brother Charles McQuery, and then proposed as a change to our bylaws in our last stated meeting. We have traditionally gone dark over the summer months. This was because many of our Brothers were farmers and needed the time off, and was continued because the Lodge was just too hot in July in August. With the installation of the heat pumps this year, the Lodge is very cool in the summer, and will be a nice escape from the heat during the summer. With this in mind there will be a vote on changing our bylaws to hold stated communications on the third Thursdays of July and August. This will give us a chance to read and ballot on petitions that would otherwise have to wait until September.

The Aritcle II section 1. Now reads “The Stated Communications of this Lodge shall be held on the Third Thursday of each month except July & August.” With the proposed change the bylaws will read Bylaws now read “The Stated Communications of this Lodge shall be held on the Third Thursday of each month.”

In my installation I referenced all of the activities planned for Ashler in 2013. I have been working with my officers and here is the list we have so far. This list is subject to change.
