Trestleboard           ASHLER LODGE          January 2012

Greetings from the East,

I hope this Trestleboard finds you in good health and good spirits. The holidays are winding down, yet we are as busy as ever at Ashler Lodge!

Our December stated meeting was a great evening full of food, fun and business. We approved a budget for the upcoming year, balloted to grant affiliation to Bro. Bruce Lobree, and installed Bro Dale Miller as Tyler of the Lodge.

I also outlined my “theme” for the year: The What & Why of Masonry—Individual stories of Masonic Journeys. I want to learn why each of us became Masons, and what Freemasonry means to each of us. Each Brother’s story is different, and we can learn a lot about each other, and ourselves, by understanding why we done an apron and pick up our working tools.

If you can’t make it to Lodge to share your stories, please call, write, email or post to our Facebook page. I’d be more than happy to share in Lodge your stories.

Most Worshipful Master Michael L. Sanders will be the honor us with his presence during his official visit to Ashler Lodge in January.

I’m positive 2012 will be just as great as 2011 was!

Fraternally,

Greetings from the West,

We are starting a new year, but I don’t want to forget the accomplishments of the past.

I would like to pay wages to two of our very disserving Brothers: WB Jim Greimes, and Brother Jack Houston, both recipients of the Hiram Award.  The Hiram Award is presented to a Master Mason who has served the Lodge and the Masonic Fraternity with devotion over and above the ordinary. It is the highest honor for service that can be bestowed on a member of a Masonic Lodge.  Devotion over and above the ordinary is the only

way to describe the commitment to the Fraternity by these two Brothers.  It is an honor to call them my friends.  If we continue to look at Brothers like these as examples, this Lodge will be an example for all of Masonry.

Fraternally,

Greetings from the South,

Our first meeting, even with a few surprises went swimmingly and I didn't leave you all out at refreshment, that I remember.

Speaking of refreshments, our intrepid stewards have been hard at work formulating a game plan for this year's meals that will help us organize our kitchen and our budget for years to come.  This will, of course, help us get you those tasty meals to your table on time and on budget.

Don't forget, January is our chili cook-off and the visit from the grand master so bring your chili and your appetite.

Fraternally,
