Trestleboard ASHLER LODGE November 2013
Greetings from the East,
What a wonderful meeting we had in October. For those of you who missed it we had a really great step-up night. Perhaps the best I have seen. The Job’s Daughters did a wonderful presentation on symbols and then did their closing cross. What a great group of young ladies. This was followed by WB David Burn’s presentation on Masonic traditions referenced in the Bible, which was enjoyed by all, WB Burn focused on the first degree and it was so well received that we hope to have him back for a presentation on the 2nd degree during Roger’s year and the 3rd degree during Dan’s year.
On a minor note we held elections of officers. The election of officers was hard for me. This has been one of the best years in my life and I am not looking forward to stepping down. The support I have received from the Lodge, the youth groups, my family and the community has been overwhelming. It is with great pride that I introduce myself as Master of Ashler Lodge, and I will take great pride in being a among the group of Bothers who can call themselves Past Masters of Ashler Lodge.
All good things must come to an end and I congratulate Brother Roger Kaltenbach on his election to WM for 2014, Bother Dan Southerland as Senior Warden, Brother Kevin Haagen as Junior Warden, WB Mike Olson as Treasurer and WB Ron Swasey as Secretary. The Lodge is in good hands. I look forward to a great 2014.
Bro. Roger’s installation will be on Saturday December 7th at 2PM. This will be an open installation and I encourage all you to come and invite your friends. This is a good chance to see Masons in action.
I encourage all of you to attend my last meeting as Worship Master. I may get all of my ritual right this time. The evening starts out by one of the best turkey dinners you can hope for prepared by the Job’s Daughters. Then we will go to Lodge where we honor our veterans. WB Ron Swasey will continue his tradition with his veteran’s presentation; this will be followed by a presentation from the Rainbow Girls. We will be off-session for both of these presentations and wives and family are invited
Fraternally,
WB Gary McPherson

Greetings from the West,
The first thing I would like to say to all of the brothers is thank you very much for entrusting me with the leadership of our lodge. It is a humbling honor to follow in the footsteps of all the masters that have come before me. I hope to live up to the expectations of the lodge and myself.
Viewing the lodge from the East for the entire evening is certainly a different experience although it is not unlike my first time in the Junior Deacon’s chair where I was petrified of forgetting my lines. As WM Gary pointed out, we had an excellent stepup night (even if I did miss a few lines) and I agree that we will be in good hands for years to come with Brothers Dan and Kevin to lean on this year.
Now, I must pay wages to all the past masters and future masters that keep our lodge the shining beacon that it is. Bless you all!
Fraternally,
Roger Kaltenbach
Senior Warden

Greetings from the South,
I would like to start out by giving a very heart felt thank you to all my Brothers for electing me as your next Senior Warden. I am humbled by your continued trust and confidence. I will continue to do my best and look forward to a great new year. That’s a little weird to say as it seems like we were just being installed to our present positions. Sure makes one look at how fast time flies and gets away from us. I would like to thank all of you for a great year in the South. Thanks for all your help with meals, clean ups and work parties we have had. Brother Kevin has taken over the job of work parties for the lodge and is doing a great job. It has been an honor being in the South with WB Gary in the East as he has done an awesome job. I look forward to the next year with Brother Roger in the East. Ashler has an incredible history with the Past Masters leaving us such a great legacy and it just keeps getting better. I will always remember the words of a great friend whom I later found to be a Brother upon completing my EA degree “follow me and we will do great things” and like to share them as we all as Masons have that ability. It shows in all we do.
Fraternally,
Dan Southerland
Junior Warden

October 19th the girls went to Stocker Farms in Snohomish to the haunted corn mazes. They had a blast and some of them got very scared! October 31st they helped Ashler Lodge by handing out candy in front of the lodge for Bothell's Safe Halloween. It was a lot of fun and everyone dressed up. We would like to thank Ashler Lodge for providing the candy for this event. We appreciate it very much. We also used this as a promotional tool and several girls and parents showed some interest. Hopefully something will come of it. November 9th is our first meeting of November and it is elections. We would love to see the Masons there. The girls like to show off their ritual work. November 17th the girls have planned a Spa Party Brunch. This is also a promotional event as they are inviting friends to this. If you know any young lady between the ages of 10 and 20 who might be interested please let me know. November 21st the daughters will be cooking and serving your annual turkey dinner. They are very much looking forward to this event. They always have a lot of fun. November 26th is our last meeting for this term. We hope that some of you will be able to make it. December 7th is our Installation. Thank you so much Ashler Lodge for all you do for Bothell 77! Melody

Dear Ashler Lodge Masons, Bothell Assembly wishes to thank you for all your support and help during the last year. We have greatly enjoyed our events together and look forward to future opportunities to work together again. We appreciate your financial support as well. We are proud to call you our brothers. We could still use some help at our final two husky field clean-ups on Sunday, November 10th and Saturday, November 30th. We meet at the SE corner of Husky Stadium at 7:00am. Dress for the weather and bring a sack lunch. Please email Cindy Powell at momsseven@msn.com if you can help. Also, feel free to join us at any of our meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month. You will always be welcome. For our Masonic Veterans, please consider joining us on Veteran’s Day, Monday, November 11th. See invitation details below. Bothell Rainbow Assembly #47
