Trestleboard ASHLER LODGE September 2013 Greetings from the East, With summer over it has given me a chance to reflect on this year, what we have done and what is still left to do; it seems like there are always things that are left to do. First, I would like to congratulate everyone on the wonderful degree work we have been doing. In addition to our Stated Meetings we have had two EA degress 6 FCs and 2 MM so far this year. My Junior Warden has conferred an EA and My Senior Warden has conferred a FC degree as well as opened and closed Lodge on both of those degrees. Brother Dale Miller does an excellent EA posting lecture, WB Mike Olson is always perfect with his FC lecture, WB Ron Swasey does the “G” lecture so well it sound more like a conversation with the candidate than a lecture, and WB Jim Greimes Brother Dan Southerland and myself are doing well by splitting up the MM lecture. I am very proud of our Lodge and the work we do. We are coming down the home stretch and there are still some things I would like some help on. I hope we will have two more Master Mason degrees, one more Fellow Craft and one more Entered Apprentice before the end of the year. Please join us for these degrees. They are important to the candidates, to the Lodge and to you. We have a Past Masters’ night coming up on our September Stated meeting with RWB Mendoza speaking. We will also be having a women’s program. My wife Paula will be leading a round table discussion on what it means to be a Master’s wife. I encourage all wives and significant others to attend. Paula has hosted a few women’s programs now and I think they have been a great success. I say it each meeting, but we have three wonderful youth groups that meet at Ashler Lodge. Please take a look at the attached calendar and see if you can make it to one of their meetings this month. I am sure you will be amazed by the quality of youth that attend these meetings. Fraternally, WB Gary McPherson Worshipful Master gary@mc-pherson.com 425.890.3771 If you are receiving a paper copy of the Trestleboad and would like an e-mail version please e-mail WB McPherson at gary@mc-pherson.com Greetings from the West, While I was unable to attend our August Stated, “The Last Annual Spam Cook-Off”, I am told it was attended well and the Spam Cook-off was a huge success. Perhaps a small inconsequential bribe would be able to prolong this new tradition. When paying wages, I will keep with the cook-off theme and congratulate Cristal Southerland for her delectable winning concoction. I must also pay wages to WM Gary McPherson and JW Dan Southerland and WM Ron Swasey for putting on an excellent campout. I took my kids and they had a great time swimming in the creek, riding their bikes and eating. Next time I might even remember to bring their swimsuits. Fraternally, Roger Kaltenbach Senior Warden roger@thekaltenbach.com Greetings from the South, Well, Summer is coming to an end (let’s hope not too fast) and we have been busy as a lodge. So many ways to be happy to be a Brother. We had our first Summer Stated communications and they were great. I sure have enjoyed them and the lighter way of meetings, I am thinking my favorite was the August stated and the 1st Annual Spam Cook-off. Well with a little bribe to our spam free SW it will be annual. Some great entries were submitted, from Brother Dale’s Spam Mango Salsa, to our WM’s Spam fried rice, all greats. Thanks for all your entries I sure enjoyed such great usage of this delectable meat! We finished up music in the park with a big bang putting on a CHIP’s event. Thank you to all who helped, especially the great youth, our own Rainbow Girls, and Job’s Daughters. We love seeing you all at our events. If you are able to attend one of their meetings I would highly suggest it to see the energy they exude. They do love having us all there. We also did two parades this summer. Our Annual 4th of July here in Bothell and we also marched in the Woodinville parade. Thanks to Brother Brian Frisbee for your hard work at setting this up for us. We were quite well received and fun was had by all. Looking forward to next year. Now onto the great camp outs which were held at the Masonic Park in Granite Falls, what a great place to be! We had an awesome time being with Brothers and families. Our first was on the weekend of the annual open air degree and was so much fun that we are thinking we will plan this as an annual event so put it on your calendar. The Park is looking great and we can tell how hard they are working on the place. Now think of it, as you camp there you are always among your brothers. I had fun walking down the lane to see who was in the area I knew, found so many brothers in the park with families. Great Times! Job’s Daughters: (Submitted by Melody Dorning) The end of June we had our Grand Session. They competed in Bethel ritual competition and placed 1st in their category. Our own Ashley Tolen (our Honored Queen) was drawn as Grand Bethel Sr. Princess and Olivia Austin and Myra Mustavinasab were drawn as Grand Bethel Representatives. The week before they went to Grand Session 7 of our girls went to Montana to re-institute a Bethel that had been closed for some time. The girls have had 2 car washes, a garage sale, a swimming party so far this summer for fund raisers and promotion events. Several girls went to our Supreme Session a couple of weeks ago and Avary Sadler was selected as a Supreme Representative. We are going to our yearly state wide camp out this coming weekend at the Masonic park in Granite Falls. Our first meeting in September is the 7th as our state wide leadership retreat is on the weekend of September 14th. We would love to see all of you at our first meeting. Our second meeting is on it's normal day September 24th. |
